Debt To God

Religion. History already showed us that there were many battles under the name of religions, beliefs, or faiths, you name it.

I am not trying to make a war here or anything sounds like a debate. I just want to share something I got from going to church every Sunday. I am a Christian, so I’m gonna share it with a Christian point-of-view.
One day, a preacher in my church asked the assembly a simple-but-hard-to-answer question: “Why do you come to the church every Sunday?”

As usual, the assembly stayed silent and none answered it, maybe because they thought it was rhetorical question. Just after the preacher asked, “Anyone?”, and the assembly were murmuring. But I heard one of the assembly answered like this: “We’re here to ask for blessings.” This statement attracted the preacher’s attention. So he carried on with his preach, “Lot’s of Christian go the church with that intention, but I might as well said that it’s not quite right...” and so forth... But now I can’t tell you what exactly he said that day because I can’t remember, but I can tell you what I get:

Maybe some of you think the same way, that we’re going to church to ask for blessing. I WAS thinking like that as well.

Put it like this: If we done a good thing, such as doing charity works, helping others or etc, God will bless us and gives us gift for our doing. It’s true, but it means, if we don’t do it, God won’t bless us. I found a cul-de-sac. And I don’t agree with that statement.

God bless us everyday, regardless we doing any good works or not. Would God stop give His blessing to us if we forget to pray every day? If that’s true, then maybe I’d have died several times. Gotta admit, I forgot to pray sometimes. I believe we humans won’t last any minute without God’s grace, so if I am still live right here right now, that’s because His Grace.

Maybe sometimes you pray to ask for something for a long time and He haven’t give it to you. But that doesn’t mean He won’t give it, He just haven’t give it yet. God’s blessing is in the right place and the right time. Just do your best and God will do the rest. Remember the verse: “ask, and you shall receive”.
The point is, I realized that I have to change my point-of-view. If we wanna do something good, do it because we are indebted to God, not the other way around. If we go to church, put it in our mind that we come to give thanks to God, for He already blessed us everyday in our life. And that’s an encouraging thought, don’t you think?

I don’t expect people to agree with me though. God gives us freedom to think liberally, just make sure that we use it right. So, are you ready to pay your debts to God? Let’s start it by doing a simple thing: SMILE! ^____^.
